**RETIRED**

I was born and raised in a family of engineers and artists in central Minnesota. I began to study engineering in college which was interrupted by the Vietnam Conflict. I served two tours in Vietnam, guiding B-52 “Arc Light” missions for the Air Force.

I went back to school after receiving my honorable discharge and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts from the University of Minnesota. At the same time I was managing a picture framing shop on the west bank and had an art studio in “Nordeast” Minneapolis. The start of a family created the need for a more secure income and I went back to school.

After graduating from Control Data Institute I talked my way into a Technical Support position with a data communications company in the Twin Cities. Four companies and 30 years later I was laid off from a director level management position. I found that I was in no hurry to get back into the corporate rat race.

I had been doing some web design, graphic design and photography work on the side for about ten years. My father did wood and metal working on the side and called his business “Hammerbeck Designs”. Carrying on the name, I thought “Hammerbeck Electronic Designs” would be a good name for my venture. I shortened it to “He-Designs”
